The primary treatment is made by specialized surgeons, according to protocols which vary of a team in the another one.

In brief:

  • Labial repair is made early, towards the age of 3 weeks. Premature repair allows one well better acceptance of the deformation by the family and a better integration of the baby within family. Hospitalization is brief, about 24 hours.
  • The repair of the palate is possible from the 7 th month and requires a new short hospitalization, about 48 hours.

The secondary treatment begins at the age of 1 year at finishs at the end of puberty:

  • A supervison of the growth and the hearing of the child is necessary during the first 3 years of life.
