Full thickness skin grafts are very useful to cover losses of skin after removing a giant naevus, especially where perfect elasticity of skin is necessary for functional movements, as on eyelids, legs, knees, heels, forehead..

 

This great naevus was removed and replaced by a full thickness skin graft, before the age of the walking. Cosmetic result is satisfactory. Functional result, also, because wearing of shoes and learning of the walking were not altered.

 

Skin grafts allow also the treatment of giant facial nevi.

 

This very big congenital naevus, located on scalp, forehead and root of nose was removed and replaced by a full thickness skin graft in a first surgical session. with a good cosmetic result, even though the wrinkling of the forehead is not preserved. Correction of scars and eyebrow was necessary several years after the transplant.

 

These 4 photographies show the evolution of a full thickness skin graft, after removal of a para nasal congenital nevus.. Above at right: evolution after 10 days, below at left: after 3 months, below at right:after 6 months. A graft was absolutely necessary to avoid inacceptable deformation of inferior eyelid.
