Rhinoplasties can be performed differently:

  • Classic or "blind rhinoplasty" , with only endonasal incisions on the mucosa.
  • "Open rhinoplasty" , with a short cutaneous incision, located above the nasolabial angle, allowing the surgeon to work under control of view and to do precise and difficult things on the tip of nose.

A complete anesthsia is generally required for these operations.

Some particular indications need complicated practices on the septal cartilage or on the tip, as bone or cartilage grafts, to correct abnormal development of nasal pyramid.

Usual procedures are :
  • Hospitalisation of 24 hours allowing medical supervision and antalgic treatment.
  • Plaster cast during 8 to 15 days (anti-oedemateous et modeling actions). The definite result will be appreciated after 2 or 3 months.
  • Removal of nasal dressing, after 24 or 48 hours.
  • Post-operative oedema and ecchymosis will desappear after 15 days.
